Richard Eugene Ellis NEWARK: A Funeral Mass for Richard Eugene Ellis, 80, of Newark, will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, May 28, 2013, with Rev. JCP Sullivan, Parish Priest, as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, with military honors provided by the Licking County Veterans Alliance. Richard, a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, died at Licking Memorial Hospital on Thursday, May 23, 2013. He was born in Licking County, Ohio on August 6, 1932 to the late John and Margaret (Gutridge) Ellis. Richard was a 1951 graduate of Newark High School and then served with the US Army as a Private 1st Class. After the Army, Richard worked in a factory and was also employed part-time at Newark Recreation, eventually joining into partnership as a co-owner of the business for a few years. He went to work with the County Engineer Highway Department and retired from there in 1993 after 30 years of service. As an avid bowler, Richard was a member of several area bowling leagues and has won many championships over the years. He was also a member of the Sons of Italy Rinascemento Lodge. Richard is survived by his wife of 60 years, Louise (Giorgetti) Ellis, of the home; his daughters and sons-in-law, Debra and David Shelly, and Lori and Dan Welsh, all of Newark; his brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Helen Ellis of Newark; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Janet Jordan of Granville, Rosemary and Roland Decker of Newark, Suzanne Rauch of Lancaster, and Marlene Winters of Newark; his Godson, Tanner Ernest; his sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Minnie Andrews, Giselda and Gerald Ernest, and Irma and Don DeVault; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Glenn Jordan, Robert Rauch, George (Madonna) Giorgetti, Sr. Mary Coletta Giorgetti, Wayne Andrews; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Alfredo (Noemi) Giorgetti. Friends and family may call from 4-8 P.M. Monday, May 27, 2013 at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, where the Sons of Italy will conduct a service at 7:00 P.M.
