Lorene Barbara Soldan was born March 13, 1917 in Pigeon, Michigan the daughter of Levi and Malvina Schneider. She married the love of her life Elmer Soldan in 1940. This ceremony took place in the living room of her parent's home in Pigeon, Michigan. They enjoyed many years of happiness until Elmer's death in 1986. Lorene passed away on Wednesday October 12 at the American House in Roseville. Lorene immediately moved to Detroit with Elmer , where Elmer already resided and where he worked as a Detroit police officer. Together they raised their son Thomas. Lorene worked as a Rosie the Riveter during WWII while Elmer was with the Detroit Police Department. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and canning. Doting on her grandchildren and great-grand children was a favorite activity, she was always around them. Lorene was active with the Women's Society of World Service at Redeemer United Methodist Church, her long-time church home. Mrs. Soldan is survived by beloved son Thomas (Mary), her dear grandchildren Ronald Soldan, and Kathryn Ray (Roy); loving great-grandchildren Nathan Ray and Isabella Ray also her sister Ella Schmidt. Lorene is predeceased by her beloved husband Elmer, her parents Levi and Malvina Schneider, and her siblings Marvin Schneider, Ivis Tipsword, Elaine Taylor and Ray Schneider. A memorial service will take place at a later date. The family has requested memorial contributions be made to Redeemer United Methodist Church, 20571 Vernier, Harper Woods, MI 48225 or the American Diabetes Association .
