YOLANDA ESCOBAR Yolanda Zamorano Escobar, 76, a long-time resident of Las Vegas, passed away Friday, July 7, 2017. She was born March 24, 1941 and attended school with the Salesian Sisters of St. John Bosco. She married Alejandro Escobar M. March 22, 1958 and immigrated with her family to Las Vegas in 1961. Yolanda attended University of Nevada Las Vegas and pursued a career in social work. She enjoyed traveling and visited Asia, Europe, and Latin America and was an avid reader of British History. In her earlier years, Yolanda was an active member of the Ave Maria Guild at St. Viator School. She was an Assistant Girl Scout Troop Leader and enjoyed various hobbies throughout her life. Yolanda was a very caring person and influenced many people in a positive and productive way. Her greatest achievement was the love and care she gave to her family and friends. She is survived by her daughter, Adriana Escobar (Eric Witkoski); granddaughter, Alexandra Chanos; sister, Olga Zamorano de Calderon; niece, Maria Calderon (Hernando Chacon) and grandnieces, Mariana Gomez and Isabela Chacon of Cali, Colombia; and nephew, Jorge Calderon (Mary Roesser) and grandnephew, Paul Calderon of London, England. She was preceded in death by her husband; and parents. Yolanda's viewing will be 6-9 p.m. Friday, July 14, in the Mausoleum at Davis Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Her funeral Mass will be at 1:30 Saturday, July 15, at St. Viator Catholic Church, 2461 E. Flamingo Road. Burial following at Davis Memorial Park.
