They raised their family in Boulder City, Nevada and returned to Overton, Nevada after their children were raised. While growing up, Zona discovered the beauty of the hills of Moapa Valley on the back of her horse accompanied by her faithful dog. She valued education, loved learning, reading, history, art, traveling, hiking, water skiing, and watercolor painting. She loved to swim and regularly swam at the warm springs in Moapa. Her last swim was two weeks before her passing. She was involved in the Moapa Valley Art Guild and Pomegranate Festival and helped in the local family business. She had a career in nursing, and was continually serving family, friends, and those in need. She saw beauty in life and the people around her.
