William Monroe "Bill" Carpenter
William "Bill" Monroe Carpenter, 74, passed away Friday, May 12, 2017, at his home in Mineral, Texas, of natural causes. Born on September 24, 1942, in Tuscon, Arizona, to Ernest Monroe and Opal Lorine Carpenter, they raised him in Marana, Arizona, where his love for horses, cattle, ranching and team roping came to life. Bill, a successful rancher moved Carpenter Ranch from the Tortolita Mountains, Marana, Arizona, to Mineral, Texas, in 1997, where he founded Last Chance Arena, home to many wonderful times. He will be watching over his children, William "Billy" Ernest Carpenter, Reed Monroe Carpenter, Andrea Leigh Finney, Jessica Alice Carpenter, Janelle Lorine Carpenter and Jolie Ann Carpenter; along with his brother, Donald Carpenter; sister, Helen Baggett; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Reuniting with his parents and sister, Zona Chesebro, he will continue to be fiercely loved and now deeply missed. Wild Bill's dearest pets, TJ the horse and Killer the dog, continue to be faithful to him. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2017, at 11 a.m. located at the Community Christian Church of Marana, 13610 N. Sandario Road, Marana, AZ 85653; a reception will follow. "Like the true cowboy he was, he went out with his boots on."
