William J. Fitzsimmons Retired Army National Guard captain William J. Fitzsimmons, 85, of Belleville, N.J., passed away on May 30, 2015. Funeral from the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home, 267 Centre St., Nutley, N.J., on Friday, June 5, at 9:45 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's Church, Nutley, at 10:45 a.m., followed by burial at Glendale Cemetery, Bloomfield, N.J. Relatives and friends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday, June 4, from 6 to 9 p.m. Born and raised in Newark, N.J., Mr. Fitzsimmons was a resident of Belleville for over 60 years. He was a manager with Wakefern Food Corporation in Secaucus, N.J., before retiring, and had previously been employed at Breyer's Ice Cream in Newark. He attended Bloomfield College. Mr. Fitzsimmons was a member of the Roseland Amateur Radio Club, the Military Auxiliary Radio System and the American Legion. Bill was also a member of the Army National Guard, earning retirement status at the rank of captain. Predeceased by his beloved wife of 55 years, Mary A. (York) Fitzsimmons, he is survived by his son, Michael Fitzsimmons; his daughter, Carol Concepcion, and his grandchildren, Stephanie Fabian and Valerie and Angela Concepcion, and his great-grandchildren, Alani, Jonah and Mateo. He also leaves his brother, Michael Fitzsimmons; and his sister, Karen Cawthorne. He was predeceased by his sister, Patricia Riggin. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kan. 66675.
