Virginia J. "Jan" Moye
Virginia J. "Jan" Moye RALEIGH - Virginia J. Moye "Jan" passed away peacefully at the Hospice & Palliative Care of Cabarrus County in Concord, North Carolina on Wednesday, September 5th, 2018 at the age of 89. Jan was born on November 16, 1928 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and was the daughter of Michael and Helen (Piczarek) Jankowski. Jan joined the Woman's Army Corps (WAC) on February 25th, 1949 and worked as a Clerk-Typist. After meeting the love of her life and future husband, she decided to leave WAC and was discharged on December 9th, 1951. Years later and after raising her children, Jan then taught in the public school system for many years. Her nurturing and kind nature blessed so many children and people she came in contact with. She retired from Millbrook Magnet Elementary School in 2009, just shy of her 80th birthday. On January 26th, 1952, Jan married James Clayton Moye, Jr. in Snow Hill, North Carolina. J.C. preceded Jan in death on September 12th, 2009, following almost 57 years of marriage. Jan is survived by her son James Clayton Moye III (Sheila); her daughter Karen Moye Stallings (Kenneth); her grandchildren Ashley Brooks Moye (Joshua), James Broadus Moye (Tracy), Tristan Allen Richard, Stephney Anne Richard; her great-grandchildren Garrison Kier Moye and Alyssa June Moye; her sister Geraldine (the late Harry) Langfeldt; her brothers Jim (Loretta) Jankowski, Henry (the late Janie) Jankowski. Jan is also survived by her sister-in-law and special friend Betty-Sue Moye, and also many nieces, nephews and cousins. Jan is preceded by her brothers Harold Jankowski; Eugene Jankowski; and her sister Jane Hoffmeier. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 10th, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 East Millbrook Road, Raleigh, N.C., with Rev. Robert Tyler Daniels officiating. Family Graveside services will follow of Tuesday, September 11, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at the Snow Hill Cemetery in Snow Hill, North Carolina. As published in The Daily Reflector
