Vincent William Ceglia
Vincent William Ceglia LAMBERTVILLE- Vincent William Ceglia, 89, died on May 15, 2012, in the Pine Run Community in Doylestown, PA. Born March 11, 1923, in Braintree, MA, Vincent was the son of Francesco Ceglia and Filomena Florio. A painter all of his life, Vincent studied at the Brooklyn Museum School of Art and Pratt Institute. He worked as an art director and graphic designer, and was a professor in his later years in the Visual Arts Department at Mercer County Community College in New Jersey. He also led annual summer painting workshops on Lake Maggiore, Italy. Vincent lived for most of his life in Bucks County, PA, and Lambertville, NJ. After retiring, he split his time between homes in Lambertville, NJ, and Orta, Italy, where he found inspiration. He received awards from numerous institutions, including the National Academy of Design. His paintings are in many private and public collections throughout the United States and abroad. His works have been exhibited in many museums and galleries, including the New Jersey State Museum, Philadelphia Museum of Art, James A. Michener Museum, National Academy of Design, American Watercolor Society, and National Arts Club. He was a longtime member of the Salmagundi Club and the Philadelphia Sketch Club. Vincent is survived by his daughter, Barbara Ceglia, and her husband, Scott MacNeill, of Lambertville, NJ; daughter, Patricia Ceglia of Cochranville, PA; son, Stephen Ceglia, and Paula Siebert of Erieville, NY; daughter, Ann Daya Ceglia of Cotati, CA; son, James Ceglia of Wrightstown, PA; daughter, Christina Ceglia of Marlboro, VT, and daughter, Janet Ceglia and her husband, Stephen Tuscai of Telford, PA; grandchildren, Simone Ceglia-Greene of Washington, DC; Julian MacNeill of Lambertville, NJ, and Briana Ceglia of Wrightstown, PA; his sisters, Grace Matonte of Lynbrook, NY, and Josephine Gaeta of Sea Cliff, NY, and his brother, Frank Ceglia of New York, NY. Vincent was preceded in death by his wife, Corinne, who was also an artist. A memorial service will be held on Saturday afternoon, June 2, 2012, at 2 p.m. at the Solebury Friends Meeting, Sugan Road, Solebury, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Philadelphia Sketch Club, www.sketchclub.org .
