Vernon Williams
Vernon C. Williams Evansville, IN Vernon C. Williams, 94, passed away on February 8, 2019. He was born on November 16, 1924 to Joseph and Ada Williams in Evansville, Indiana. Vernon was a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Army with the 75th Infantry Division and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was also a member of the VFW 1114. Following his military service, he worked as an engineer at Whirlpool where he retired in 1984. Vernon's passion in life was golf. He played up until the age of 92 and loved to play with his friends. He was also a handy-man. There was nothing he couldn't fix. He enjoyed working in the yard and listening to country music. Vernon is survived by his wife of 71 years Awanda Williams; children Karen (Bill) Condis and Ron Williams (Steve Bullard); grandchildren Andrea (Cherokee James) Smith; and great-grandchildren Liam and Mila Smith. Vernon was preceded in death by his parents and his five siblings. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, February 13th at Sunset Funeral Home with a burial to directly follow at Sunset Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the National Kidney Foundation.
