BARSTAD, Veloise A. Veloise A. Barstad, 91 of McKinney, Texas, went to be with her Lord on August 10, 2019. She was a baptized believer in Jesus, read her Bible and prayed often. She was born December 30, 1928, to Clara and Edwin Ahrens in Boone, Iowa. On February 1, 1948, she married Robert Carroll Barstad in Boone, Iowa. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was spunky and funny, sometimes sassy. Stubborn comes to mind as well. She made friends wherever she was. Pinochle was one of her favorite games and she played it to win. She was special to all those that knew her. She will be sadly missed by family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband; Robert Barstad, brother; Don Ahrens, two sisters; Maxine Briley and Wanda Herbert. Survivors include one son; Robert D. Barstad and wife Jan of Mckinney, Texas; one daughter; Rhonda L. Brunworth and husband Todd of Grant, Michigan; six grandchildren; Jeff Barstad and wife Kristen of McKinney, Texas; Sarah Mason and husband Paul of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Scott Brunworth and wife Jennifer of Belleville, Illinois; Jennifer Prater and husband Josh of Adrian, Michigan; Ryan Brunworth and wife Kristi of Norton Shores, Michigan; Lindsey Luma and husband Corey of Galesburg, Michigan; nineteen great grandchildren: Halie, Austin, Luke, Ely, Avery, Sawyer, Benjamin, Shey, Emma, Owen, Lily, Cody, Zachary, Mason, Brady, Logan, Benson, Ellie, and Jace; one brother, Gerald Ahrens of Santa Monica, California; one sister in-law, Sherrill Balcom and husband Jack of Boone, Iowa.
