Funeral service for Tommy H. Norris, 87, South Segrave, Daytona Beach, a retired commercial fisherman, who died Tuesday at Olds Hall Good Samaritan Center, Daytona Beach, will be 10 a.m. Friday at the Upper Room Chapel, Oak Hill, with the Rev. Belva Lucas and Associate Pastor Michael Stewart officiating. Burial will follow at Daytona Memorial Park, Daytona Beach. Friends may call from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. today (Thursday) at Settle-Wilder Chapel, New Smyrna Beach. Born in Live Oak, Tommy was a lifetime resident of Oak Hill and New Smyrna Beach. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II stationed in the European Theatre, he was awarded many medals including 2 Purple Hearts. He attended the Upper Room Chapel in Oak Hill and was a member of VFW Post 1590 and DAV Post 53. Tommy was a preacher for prison ministry for many years and loved fishing the river, gardening, playing the harmonica and singing, especially in church. He is survived by his son, Butch Norris, Muscatine, Iowa; stepson, Steve Goodrich, Oak Hill; daughters, Linda Bass and Bonita Davis, Ormond Beach, Helen Stranis, Queens, N.Y., Toni Barlow, Oak Hill, Donna Locke, Perry, Ga., and Vera Futch, Oak Hill; brother, O. L. "Nudge" Norris, New Smyrna Beach; 23 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and many great-great-grandchildren.
