Thomas "Tom" Cox
Thomas "Tom" Cox June 26, 2019 Thomas "Tom" Cox, 92, passed away peacefully at home on June 26, 2019. Born in Detroit, Michigan and raised in Canada, he graduated from Queens University in Kingston, Canada in 1955 with a degree in electrical engineering. He moved to the United States and went to work for General Electric. Tom's hobbies included camping, skiing and sailing. He had a deep love of music and played bass and violin throughout his life. He played in several bands, as well as with the Ottawa, Syracuse, and Onondaga Civic Symphonies. After retiring from GE, he found his passion, making violins, which he continued to do until his health began to fail. Tom enjoyed his life and loved his family deeply. He was predeceased by his son, Thomas ( Jay) Cox and leaves his wife of 66 years, Norma, his daughters Jennifer Gleason, Carrie (Scott) Heyden, daughter in law Lisa Cox, as well as 6 grand children, Matthew (Rachel) Gleason, Jessica Heyden, Joshua (Karissa) Heyden, Jacob (Amanda) Corlyon, Nicole Corlyon and Kylie Cox, as well as 3 great grand children, Scarlette Gleason, Chloe Coker and Ezra Heyden. There will be a celebration of life to honor Tom at the family home on July 20th at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Tom's name to Hospice of CNY and the Alzheimer's Association.
