Theresa Nora Davis
Theresa Nora Davis Born: November 7, 1935 Died: January 29, 2019 Theresa "Terry" Nora (nee Kelly) Davis passed away peacefully on January 29, 2019. Born in Dublin, Ireland on November 7, 1935, she was the sixth child of fourteen born to Catherine & Joseph Kelly. She spoke often & fondly of her siblings and of her childhood on Richmond Avenue. Terry moved to London in her early twenties to work for the Singer Sewing Machine Company and while living there she met her husband Frank, a young U.S. Army officer. They were married in Dublin on December 26, 1957. Terry & Frank went on to have seven of their own children; Paul, Kelly, Tracey, Michael, Chris, Betsey & Mary. During the course of Frank's almost 30 years of military service, including lengthy wartime separations, Terry was there holding it all together...an often underrated task. She was a tireless wife & mother who was dedicated to her family. In later years, she returned to the workforce at Lord & Taylor, earning awards & commendations for her amazing sales records & work ethic...but her children remained her most prized accomplishment and they were always extremely proud of her. Her unwavering faith and her steely determination gave her the strength to survive three bouts of cancer plus triple by-pass surgery. She soldiered on through it all, keeping up her miles-a-day walking regimen, all the while reciting the rosary. She never stopped praying & asking for the continued protection and happiness of her family. Terry never realized the tremendous influence of her life on those around her. She was an exceptionally good person and the gentle guiding force behind her husband & children. She will be exceedingly missed. Terry & Frank traveled the world together and delighted in sharing their adventures. After 58+ years of marriage, Frank passed away in June of 2016. Dementia kept the full impact of the loss of her much beloved husband & constant companion from her and would also be her final fight. And on that day when she slipped through the veil of this earth, a bright & beautiful girl once again, she found him there, that young soldier waiting patiently for this moment, to take her home. Private family services will be held at the United States Military Academy at West Point. Arrangements by Adams-Winterfield and Sullivan Funeral Home. 630-968-1000 or www.adamswinterfieldsullivan.com .
