GALESBURG - Tami S. Thompson, 39, Galesburg, died at 3:15 a.m. Friday, Jan. 4, 2019, at her home in Galesburg, surrounded by her family. She was born Oct. 12, 1979, in Galesburg, the daughter of Arnold "Junior" and Sharon (Wright) Thompson. Surviving is her mother, Sharon Thompson of Galesburg; one sister, Michelle (and Jeremy) McKee of Galesburg; two nephews, Bryce and Blake McKee; one niece, Brooklynn McKee; her special companion of 14 years, Lonnie Burnette of Galesburg; special friend Mandy Stinger of Galesburg; numerous aunts; and one uncle. She was preceded in death by her father, cousins, uncle and one aunt. Tami had a passion for animals and enjoyed volunteering at the Knox County Humane Society. Her dad would bring her to the local nursing homes to volunteer as well. She also loved to spend time reading the newspapers and doing the word searches with her dad. Visitation will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2019, at Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home & Crematory in Knoxville. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2019, at Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home & Crematory in Knoxville, the Rev. John Baker officiating. Interment will be at Wataga Cemetery in Wataga. Memorial contributions may be made to the family or the Knox County Humane Society.
