In Loving Memory of Susan Mary (Laser) Ruth
LAKELAND, Fla. - Susan Mary Ruth, 67, of Lakeland, Fla., formerly of Devils Lake Mich., passed away on Aug. 22, 2018, at the Good Shepard Hospice House of Lakeland. She was born Oct. 3, 1950, in Hudson, Mich., to Everett and Ninette (Bird) Laser. Susan was married April 1, 1972, to Donald Ruth of Hillsdale, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents and father-in-law, Veron Ruth of Osseo. Susan is survived by her sons, Brent Ruth of Lakeland, Fla.; and Aaron (Heidi) Ruth of Plant City, Fla.; granddaughter, Kelly Ruth; grandson, Brandon Ruth, and great-grandson Waylon Ruth of Bartow, Fla.; sister, Suvonne (James) Sanford of Grand Blanc, Mich.; twin brother, Steven (Kim) Laser of White Lake, Mich.; brother, Stanton (Robin) Laser of Garland, Texas; mother-in-law, Serena Ruth of Osseo; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Susan was a 1968 graduate of Addison High School. She was employed as a data entry operator until her retirement in 2014. She was a beloved volunteer for many years at Good Shepard Hospice House, so much so that she was made "famous" by being featured on the official Hospice House brochure. She was known as "the Frog Lady" due to her avid collection of frog figurines. Susan enjoyed the Florida sunshine, floating in the pool, reading, telling jokes, laughter, going to the movies and spending time with friends and family. Family will receive friends for visitation at 11 a.m. Sept. 1, 2018, at First Baptist Church, 9 E. Bacon St., Hillsdale. Memorial service will begin at noon, followed by graveside service at Leonardson Cemetery in Pittsford. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for contributions in memory of Susan to Good Shepard Hospice, 3450 Lakeland Hills Blvd., Lakeland, FL 33805.
