Sue S. Collett
Sue Scheiber Collett, of Wallingford, died peacefully in her home on September 4, 2018. She was born on August 19, 1939 in the Groton area, the daughter of Fred and Helen Colver Scheiber. Sue taught for many years in the elementary schools of the Wallingford public school system, including at Simpson School and Stevens School. Long after retirement, Sue remained friends with many of her school colleagues. She was an active member of the community, as a member of the Wallingford Garden Club and of the Friendship Force, and as an active volunteer at the Wallingford Public Library and the Wallingford Historic Preservation Trust. She very much enjoyed skiing, traveling, especially to Plymouth Union, Vermont where she owned a home. She was predeceased by her son, Gary Collett, and her beloved husband of 50 years, Eric B. "Rick" Collett. She was also predeceased by her only brother, Jon Scheiber. She is survived by her nieces Helen S. Goldstein, Maria S. Starke, and Joanne S. Donnelly, and nephew Dr. Jon F. Scheiber, many good friends, several of whom considered her family, and her pets Heidi and Maverick. Friends may pay their respects on Sunday from 2:00pm - 5:00pm at the Yalesville Funeral Home, 386 Main Street, Yalesville. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 10am at First United Methodist Church, 941 Old Rock Hill Road, Wallingford. Burial will be private. Contributions in Sue's memory may be sent to the Wallingford Historic Preservation Trust, 54 North Elm Street, Wallingford, or the Wallingford Public Library, 200 North Main Street, Wallingford. www.wallingfordfh.com
