Stephen P. Curto
Stephen P. Curto, 84, of Easton, PA, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 8, 2016 in his home. Steve was born in Easton, PA, a son of the late Antonio and Louigina (Indorato) Curto. Steve was married to the former Jeanne C. Kleckner, with whom he celebrated 54 years of marriage last May 7. He was a graduate of Easton High School, class of 1950. Steve worked for Acme for 19 years, and 25 years as a Union Representative for United Food and Commercial Workers Union, before retiring in 1990. Steve was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, where he served as Usher for over 30 years. He was also a member of the Red Cross, United Way, St. Anthony's Youth Center, Order Sons of Italy, Holy Name Society, Golden Age Society, Easton Area and Northampton County Democratic Committee, AARP of Phillipsburg, Order of Fleas, and Teen Works. In 1980, Steve received the "Anthony Piperata Award" for his leadership ability and loyalty to St. Anthony's Youth Center. He received the "Golden Deeds Award" from the Exchange Club of Easton for his untiring efforts on behalf of the United Way, Red Cross, Easton YMCA and St. Anthony's Youth Center in 1985; and in 1986, he received the United Way "Gold Award" for outstanding service to the people of our community. The "William Werkheiser Community Service Award" was given to Steve from the Northampton County Labor Council in 1991. In 1993, he received the highest award given by the Red Cross, the prestigious "Clara Barton Award" for meritorious Volunteer Leadership. He received the "Unico Man of the Year Award" in 1997; and in 1998 he received the St. Anthony's Church Holy Name award for Man of the Year for Church and Community service. In 1999, the "Father Barbato Award" was given to Steve for his service to St. Anthony's Youth Center. In 2000, he received the "Jack Hoolihan Community Volunteer Award" from the United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley. In 2013, he received "The Dr. George S. Smith Award" for outstanding contributions to the Easton Community and Democratic Party. In addition to his wife, Steve is survived by a son Tony Curto and wife Marlene of Coopersburg, PA; a daughter Gina Kuronya and husband Mark of Bethlehem Twp.; a brother Joseph Curto and wife LaRue of Easton; grandchildren Daniel Shelbo III, Stefano Curto, CJ Kuronya and wife Devin; and K-9 grandsons Jaxon and Caesar. He is preceded in death by his sisters Mary Tricoli and Michelina Curto. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm with an additional calling hour on Saturday from 9:00 am to 10:00 am in Morello Funeral Home, Inc., 3720 Nicholas Street, Easton, PA (Palmer Twp). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 11:00 am in St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 9th & Lehigh Streets, Easton, PA. Interment will be in Easton Cemetery.
