Stanley Joseph Skrezyna
Stanley Joseph Skrezyna, age 97, of Middletown, Delaware went home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 29, 2018 at Parkview Nursing Home. Stanley was born on January 15, 1921 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Skrezyna. After graduating from high school, he worked in a meat packing company until World War II. Stanley joined the Navy after Pearl Harbor was attacked and served on four aircraft carriers. While on leave from the navy, in New York City, he met and married the love of his life Ramona in March of 1945. When the war ended Mr. Skrezyna found a job as a master payroll clerk for the New York Yankees. He later moved on to work for the Long Island Railroad as a car repairman for 31 years until he retired in 1981. Mr. Skrezyna was preceded in death by his wife Ramona of 60-plus years. He is survived by his only child, Vincent Skrezyna and wife Carmen, granddaughter Rebecca and her husband along with several nieces, nephews and friends. A viewing will be held on Thursday, July 5, 2018 from 2-4 p.m. and again from 6-7 p.m., at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 N. Broad St., Middletown, DE. The service will begin at 7 p.m. Interment with military honors will be held Friday, July 6 at 1 p.m., at the Long Island National Cemetery, 2040 Wellwood Ave., Farmingdale, NY 11735. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Polycystic Kidney Disease Foundation at PKD.org.
