In memory of
Shirley DiPaolo
Shirley Lorraine DiPaolo, 88, passed away peacefully in her Duncannon, PA home during the afternoon of Sunday, November 3, 2019, surrounded by loved ones. Shirley was born in Harrisburg, PA on February 4, 1931, the daughter of the late Ralph E. and Beatrice (Weldon) Danner. She was a retired data processor at EDS in Camp Hill, PA, where she worked for 17 years. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 43 years, Nick Antony DiPaolo, who died in 1993. Beloved daughter, mother, mother-in-law, wife, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother, Shirley's frequent response to "I love you," was to say, "I love you more!" Adopted as a baby, Shirley exhibited to all who knew her the same acceptance, love and ability to forgive that she experienced growing up in Lemoyne and Dellville, PA. She was happy when her family was happy, and she was ever-present at all sporting events, practices and wherever she was needed. She loved to travel and took a lot of trips with her daughter, Selena, and other friends and family. Shirley had a life-long love of reading-she devoured books. She loved the Susquehanna River and the mountains behind her home, and lately enjoyed watching her hummingbirds through her window. In addition to love for her family, she was a devoted friend, keeping in touch with those from school, from her job at EDS, and her neighbors, whom she visited on a weekly basis until unable. She was preceded in death by her life-long friends Nancy Boyer and Janet Bornman, and she regularly met with her Lemoyne High School class of 1949. She had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh, and made fast friends with whomever she met. Shirley's love was returned by all three of her children and their spouses, and by her many grandchildren, who were often daily visitors to her in her home, which was always tidy and filled with flowers and plants and photos of people she loved. She greeted everyone with a smile and rarely let you know how much pain she was in. Shirley extended her love wherever she could, donating regularly to her favorite causes helping veterans, animals, fighting cancer and preserving wildlife--The Nature Conservancy was her favorite. She is survived by her loving children, Rodney DiPaolo, his wife Kim, Selena DiPaolo, her husband Jim Cassidy, and Bradlee DiPaolo and his wife Diane Staz. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Nicole, Philip, Vincent, Oliver and Nora, and step-grandchildren Nicole, Tony and Adam, as well as many great and great-great grandchildren. She also left behind her companions, her cats Lola and Greta, who loved her about as much as any cat could. A Green Burial will be at 12:00 noon on November 8, 2019 in the Paxtang Cemetery, with a gathering following. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The Nature Conservancy through www.nature.org . SHALONIS -- MARYSVILLE www.pennlive.com/obits
