Roger Frederick Lloyd
Roger Frederick Lloyd, formerly of Chinchilla, passed away peacefully at the Country Meadows Retirement Community, York, after a yearlong number of illnesses while under the care of Caring Hospice Services. Roger had relocated to York County in May of 2019 to be closer to his family. Born in Scranton, Roger was the only child of the late Emerson and Marian Landon Lloyd and grew up in Chinchilla and was a 1968 graduate of Abington Heights High School. He attended and graduated from many colleges and universities. He earned Bachelor of Science degrees from the Pennsylvania State University, Main Campus, Rutgers University and the University of Miami, a Master of Science degree from the Michigan State University, a Master of Finance degree from Rutgers University as well as a Juris Doctorate degree from the Seton Hall University School of Law. Roger earned his Eagle Scout Award while a member of Troop 151, Chinchilla, and attended the Boy Scout Jamboree in Valley Forge. Rog was always interested in sports. He ran track in high school and as an adult played both volleyball and tennis. Rog and his dad followed the Yankees and had season tickets to Penn State football. He often went on group trips to see football and baseball games including the 2017 Rose Bowl when Penn State played USC. He traveled alone and also enjoyed attending concerts, especially seeing Jimmy Buffett. Roger worked as a financial analyst for many years at AT&T in New Jersey. After leaving AT&T he was employed by the Public Service Enterprise Group in Newark, New Jersey. More recently Roger was an adjunct professor at many local colleges and universities including Penn State Scranton, Marywood University and the University of Scranton. Rog was a quiet and gentle man, had many friends and was loved by his family. He was a member of the former Hyde Park Presbyterian Church. Surviving are his cousin, Patricia Ann Hughes Williams, with whom he spent summers at the family summer house at Lake Sheridan, and her husband, Tudor, of Conewago Twp, York County; his special cousin, Whitney Williams Barshinger, whom he loved dearly, and her husband, Jason, of Manchester Twp., York County, and their children, Gray and Max; Tad Williams and his daughter, Brynn, of San Francisco; other cousins in the Scranton area. Due to the current health crisis, all services will limited to immediate family. However, those wishing to view the funeral service may do so on Tuesday, Dec. 1, at 1 p.m. via the Vanston and James Funeral Home YouTube channel, with a link available on the funeral home website.
