BALDWIN -- Robert Joseph Myers, 80, of Baldwin, died on March 30, 2018. He was born July 17, 1937, in Toledo, to Konstanty Mierzejewski and Stefania Decosky Mierzejewski. He was the last of 10 children, six brothers and three sisters who all preceded him in death. Bob was an avid bow hunter, which is what brought him to Baldwin in 1982. He retired here in 1992. After 38 years working for Owens Illinois Glass Inc., he wanted the peace and quiet of the woods. His work as a mechanic engineer took him to many states and countries in South America. Retirement, however, did not mean he did not get involved in the community. He was county commissioner for nine years and enjoyed the various committees on which he served. He also served as chairman of the Republican Party for a couple of years and chaired the committee for the Lake County Chapter of Ducks Unlimited for 10 years. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Sheila; daughter, Lori Gavin (Tom); sons, Reginald and wife, Lucinda, and Jeffrey and wife, Debbie; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all. There will be a memorial service for Bob on Monday, April 16, at Baldwin Congregational Church. Visitation with the family is at 10 a.m. and the service is at 11 a.m. followed by a luncheon in the church basement. In lieu of flowers, feel free to make a donation to Grand Oaks Nursing Facility or Spectrum Health Hospice.
