Robert D. Newton
Robert Duxbury Newton passed away peacefully on the 16th of August. He was 88 and was predeceased by his wife of 68 years, Dorothy (Miller) and son, John William. He is survived by his son, Robert Jeffrey, and daughter, Jane Ekblom, her husband Harry, and their son, Anders. Bob was born in Fall River and graduated from Durfee High School in 1947. He completed his undergraduate work at Bentley College and The University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He was a retired US Air Force Master Sergeant serving in Japan and Korea. He and his wife, Dorothy, subsequently moved to Raynham in 1955 and he was employed by Equifax Services for 32 years. He was active in the First Congregational Church of Raynham and served on the Raynham Board of Appeals for 52 years. He volunteered for Our Daily Bread in Taunton for 23 years and was a Trustee of the Raynham Library for over 50 years. He will forever be remembered for being a truly wonderful, caring father and husband, and for serving his beloved Raynham in so many ways throughout his life. Family and friends are invited to a memorial service to be held on September 15, 2018 at 10am in the First Congregational Church of Raynham, 785 S. Main Street, Raynham. Burial will be private.
