RICHARD THOMAS ALLEN ROCKFORD - A quiet strength and profound wisdom, mixed with a lot of love, respect and a gentleman's way of living, sharing life is but part of his legacy. Richard was born Jan. 16, 1931, and died May 21, 2009, in Rockford. Attended Beloit, Wis., schools and was high school class president, Class of 1949. He attended Beloit College. Worked for Fairbanks Morse Co. for two years. Employed as an industrial engineer for 36 years for a hardware company on Auburn Street and 14 years part time at Bob's Ace Hardware service center. Predeceased by parents, Ivan L. "Pete" and Othella L. "Thel" Cummings Allen. Survived by wife, Carole Jean Eversen Delbridge Allen; son, Daniel R. Allen of Rockford; daughter, Jean Marie Allen Watton Rocher; grandchildren, Haley M. and Fallon R. Watton, both of Rockford, and Catrine and Thomas Rocher, both of Correns, France. Richard fought the war courageously but lost the battle. Others are still suffering - please donate anything you can to the Pancreatic Cancer Research Foundation instead of flowers.
