In memory of
Regina Marie "Jean" Marriggi
Regina "Jean" Marie Marriggi, 95, of Pittston, passed away peacefully Monday, July 6, 2020, at home, surrounded by family. Born in Pittston on April 7, 1925, she was the daughter of the late George and Helen Savelle Kaminsky Duriscavage. She attended schools in Pittston, including St. Mary's Assumption. In her earlier years, she had worked in the local garment industry and previously resided in New York, California and Connecticut. On Nov. 25, 1943, she married the love of her life, Frank Marriggi, in Waterbury, Conn. On Feb. 2, 1952 Frank passed away after a mining accident. Regina was widowed at 27 years old with a 7-year-old daughter and pregnant with her second daughter. Regina retired after 26 years as the chief switchboard operator at the Luzerne County Courthouse. In that position, between 1963 to 1989, Regina was described as "the heartbeat of the courthouse," with responsibility to connect approximately 2,000 calls to 3,000 extensions daily. Family was everything to Regina. She taught her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren the value of hard work and how to live a life dedicated to family and faith. She enjoyed being surrounded by family, cooking dinners for her company and was a voracious reader. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Marriggi; half-brothers, Joseph and John Kaminsky; and half-sister, Mary Kaminsky Koopst. After 68 years, Regina is now reunited with her husband, Frank, in heaven, where they are catching up! Surviving are her daughters, Dianne Marriggi, Pittston; and Francine and John Kravitz, Pittston; grandchildren, John Kravitz and his wife, Lisa, Taylor; Nicholas Kravitz and his wife, Alexandra, Dupont; and Gina Kravitz, Miami Beach, Fla.; great-grandchildren, John Jacob, Kaylee Marie, Benjamin Joseph, Nicholas Thomas and Ethan Fox Kravitz; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The family extends a special thanks to all the nurses and aides who cared for Regina, especially her personal caretaker and daughter, Dianne. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations may be made to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Arrangements are entrusted to Adonizio Funeral Home LLC, 251 William St., Pittston. To leave a condolence, visit Regina's obituary at www.adoniziofuneralhome.com .
