Raymond C. Andrews, of Dover, husband, father, brother and 26-year Air Force veteran passed peacefully from this world on Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2018. He was 74. Ray was a selfless, light-hearted, kind, cheerful, resilient, venerated sage of the community. He was a remarkable man full of life, humor and keen perspective who was always there for everyone who needed him. Ray was a compassionate soul who made the world a much better place; who was committed to the central manifest ideas of America, who proudly served and represented his country at home and abroad, fully embracing the time-honored principle of service before self - ever putting himself after his family, friends and faith. Ray is survived by his exceptional wife, son, daughter, four sisters, one brother and many other extended family members. A memorial service will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, at the Bennie Smith Funeral Home, 717 W. Division St., Dover. In lieu of flowers, please make charitable donations to Johns Hopkins University, c/o Fund for Johns Hopkins Medicine, 550 North Broadway, 7th Floor, Baltimore, MD, 21205 or securely online at https://secure.jhu.edu/form/neuro.
