Raffaele D'Amato
D'Amato, Raffaele Raffaele D'Amato, 83, of Tustin, CA succumbed to liver cancer at St. Joseph's Hospital surrounded by his loving family on June 6, 2019 at 2:09am. He was born in Quaglietta, Italy on August 7, 1935. He lived there until he immigrated to the U.S. in his early 20's, to reunite with his beloved bride, Carmela (preceded in death in Nov., 2002). Raffaele is survived by his two sons Russell (Chelley) and Ralph (Kara); his three grandchildren Sarah, Chris and Nick; his brother Antonio, sister-in-law Filomena, niece Sara, and nephew Gianluca in Salerno, Italy; along with many loving nieces, nephews and extended family. Raffaele was a loving Husband, Papa, Nonno and friend to all. Raffaele loved being a mechanic, a profession he committed to for over 60 years. He also loved sports. He loved his Angels, Ducks and Kings, as well as watching Italian soccer and the World Cup. He also would play bocce every Thursday morning at the Tustin Senior Center. A big thank you to Gina and Joe Bitonti (sister and brother-in-law) for the support and love during this trying time and to all the staff at St. Joseph's Hospital who provided comfort to Raffaele in his final days. Also thank you to the Saddleback Chapel in Tustin for all the arrangements. Viewing will be from 5:00- 9:00 PM at the Saddleback Chapel in Tustin on Friday, June 14th. Funeral services for Raffaele will be at St. Cecilia's Church in Tustin on Saturday, June 15th from 12:00-1:00 PM. After the services, Raffaele will be laid to rest at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in Orange. Memorial donations in lieu of flowers, may be made to The St. Jude Foundation at stjude.org .
