William Joseph Warak Sr.
William Joseph Warak, Sr., of Evanston, IL, died on July 8, 2021, at the age of 100. Bill was married to his wife, Lorraine, for 54 years. He served with the Fourth Marine Division, Company D, in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. Bill founded Dempster Auto Rebuilders, Inc., in 1961, in Evanston, which is currently owned by his son, Bill Jr., and employs his grandson, William III. He spent many happy years boating with his wife and friends at the Abbey on Lake Geneva, WI. He loved Big Band music, dancing, cigars and expensive scotch. Bill was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lorraine D. Warak (nee Black), his dear daughter, Diane L. Hardy (nee Warak) and her husband, Douglas H. Hardy, and his parents, Catherine and Michael Warak, as well as his sisters, Betty Kalinowski (Clifford) and Jeanne L. Nuccio (Frank). He is survived by his devoted children, Debora (James) Gast, Donna (John) Kwiatkowski, and William J. (Susan) Warak, Jr.; cherished grandchildren, Keriann (Derek) Shomon, Kelly Warak, William J. Warak, III, James Nicholas Gast, and Katherine (Jon) Crook; his charming great-grandson, William Garrett Crook; and loving nieces and nephews. Bill will be remembered for his sense of humor, words of wisdom, and his deep love for family, dogs, and life. He will be greatly missed. Visitation and Funeral Service were Tuesday, July 20, 2021, at HABEN Funeral Home & Crematory, Skokie. Interment followed in Memorial Park Cemetery, Skokie.
