In memory of
ELAINE BRUCE GATES LLOYD
Elaine Bruce Gates Lloyd, the mother of Bruce Cameron Gates, Brock Herschel Gates, and Edith Lynne Gates DiFrancesco, passed peacefully at her home May 29, 2021 in Fair Oaks Ranch, TX. Elaine was born in Houston, TX; graduated in 1956 from Robert E. Lee High School in Baytown, TX; and graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in 1960 with a BS in Education. She was the best mother in the world. She made her children feel valued every day and instilled in them their value to the world. She was a special friend, neighbor, hostess and volunteer. Her home throughout the years was always the gathering place for neighborhood kids, friends, family and coworkers. Elaine loved to cook and entertain and no one ever left her home hungry. She married her late husband James "Bubba" Lloyd and became mother to his children. Elaine had a career as a school teacher and a second career as President for an International Electronic Company ESS. She held memberships and board positions in many clubs that helped the community. Elaine was an all-around organizer extraordinaire. But her title of "mom" was her most important role. She was preceded in death by her parents George and Gloria Bruce, her brother Barton Bruce, her son Brock Hershel Gates and husband Bubba Lloyd. She is survived by her son Bruce Cameron Gates and wife Allison; her daughter Edith Lynne Gates DiFrancesco and husband Lee; and Monique Gates, wife of son Brock Gates. Her step children Kerwin Lloyd and wife Jeri; Craig Lloyd and wife Rosemary; and Tina Lloyd Doyle. Elaine or GoGo as she was known to family, had a heart full of love for her grandchildren Connor Gates, Julia Gates, Jordon Clements, Gabriella DiFrancesco and Domenic DiFrancesco as well as step grandchildren Erica Lloyd, Karra Doyle and Garrett Doyle. Elaine's last years in life were blessed to have been shared with her dear companion Coleman Delavan. They shared so much more joy, love, caring and laughter together and with the family. Elaine will be missed by all and we will strive to carry on with the indelible mark of compassion that she left on everyone in her path. A celebration of Elaine's life will be held on Monday, June 14, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Christ Lutheran Church, 6720 Broadway San Antonio, TX 78209. In lieu of flowers, consider a memorial to Hill Country Daily Bread Ministries, 38 Cascade Caverns Rd Boerne, TX 78006 or a charity of choice.

Your Sympathy Gift Includes:

  • A digital certificate, customized with your message, that can be printed for your records or given to the family.
  • An entry in your loved one’s guest book, noting your contribution.
  • A listing in a memorial tree registry, showing that trees were planted in honor of your loved one.

Why Plant Trees?

This memorial tree planting will assist in reforestation, improve forest health and area watersheds, and provide a critical habitat for threatened and endangered wildlife.

By planting memorial trees, you not only honor the life and legacy of your loved one — you also help to preserve our beautiful national forests for generations to come.
