Matthew was born on March 16, 1962 in South Bend, to the late Walt and Doris (Stewart) Risler, Sr. Matthew was also preceded in death by a brother, Rex, and a niece Caroline. Matthew is survived by his sisters, Noel Stewart, and Amy (Mark) Alley; brothers, Walt (fiancé, Michele Hahn) Risler, Jr. and Daniel (Rose) Risler; and many nieces and nephews. Matthew was a joy to all who loved him and could bring a smile to anyone's face. He attended special education classes in the Mishawaka and PHM School systems. Matthew worked for several years at Logan Industries, as a bag boy at Kroger ‘s in Mishawaka, he also worked for ASI services in Blackford Indiana. Matthew also enjoyed time at Camp Millhouse during his younger years. He loved soda pop and cookies but his absolute favorite dinner was Mom's homemade spaghetti. Matthew was always quick with a smile and a hug to all the people he met. He was truly a very special guy, and he will be sorely missed by his many friends and family. Matthew was cared for by his brother Walt for many years and lived with him, he loved just being one of the guys and would enjoy watching Notre Dame football with the “crew”. He was a big Chicago Bears and Notre Dame fan. If you met Matthew once, he remembered you for life. Matthew also loved music and he often played his guitar and banjo for friends that would come to our house and everyone enjoyed his performances. Matthew was also a gifted artist, and his collection of drawings is enormous, and they are all very intricate. He will forever be remembered for his smile, his friendliness, and his love of everyone around him. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you could donate in Matthew ‘s name to the Walt Risler Memorial Scholarship at IUSB https://www.myiu.org/one-time-gift or Camp Millhouse http://www.campmillhouse.org/donate-now.html . Burial will take place in a private ceremony in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. Palmer Funeral Home Guisinger Chapel will be assisting the family with all arrangements.
