In memory of
Lawrence Havard Sr.
Lawrence Havard Sr. August 17, 1934 - April 29, 2021 Lawrence "Larry" Wesley Havard Sr. left this phase of life at home on Thursday, April 29, 2021. Service will be held to celebrate his life at 2 p.m., Monday, May 3, at Bellmead Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be 1 to 2 p.m., Monday, before the service at the funeral home. Larry was born in Prichard, Alabama, on August 17, 1934, to Charles and Blanche Havard. He was married in 1957 to the love of his life, Nelda (Webb) Havard until she passed in 2009. Larry was a hard worker beginning his career in the Air Force as a Flight Mechanic and then starting his own business "Waco Aviation" through which he taught people to fly and maintained their aircraft. Later, he moved his business to the unused McGregor Airport opening the door for its present businesses. In 1967, he used his expertise to start the Aviation Program at TSTC and helped it become an FAA Certified School by writing the curriculum for all the Aviation courses. He was a proud graduate of Spartan School of Aeronautics and Texas A&M University (Master's Degree in Industrial Technology). He was recognized throughout his working career with many awards including the distinguished Charles Taylor Aircraft Mechanic Award. He loved hunting, fishing and pulling the camper to Alaska with mom. His real legacy was his love for his Lord. He read the bible daily and tried to follow its teachings while trying to affect others with the same. Larry was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his brothers, Charles and George; and his sisters, Beverly, Rita and Barbara. He leaves behind a son, Larry Havard Jr. and his wife, Shela; daughter, Laura McMaster and her husband, Billy Joe; granddaughter, Jordan Keel; grandson, Warfield Wright; seven great-grandchildren; his sister, Blanche Trede; and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers memorials would be appreciated to Eastern European Missions and/or the Children's Home of Lubbock. Please sign the online guest book at www.bellmeadfuneralhome.com

About Memorial Trees

Honor a loved one by planting trees in their memory. Trees are planted in a forest with the greatest need, at the best suitable time (typically spring or fall), by a team of certified arborists.

Your Sympathy Gift Includes:

  • A digital certificate, customized with your message, that can be printed for your records or given to the family.
  • An entry in your loved one’s guest book, noting your contribution.
  • A listing in a memorial tree registry, showing that trees were planted in honor of your loved one.

Why Plant Trees?

This memorial tree planting will assist in reforestation, improve forest health and area watersheds, and provide a critical habitat for threatened and endangered wildlife.

By planting memorial trees, you not only honor the life and legacy of your loved one — you also help to preserve our beautiful national forests for generations to come.
