Wanda Faye Adkins
Wanda Faye Adkins July 1, 1959 - April 23, 2021 Wanda Faye Adkins died on Friday, April 23, 2021, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, Va. She was born in Rocky Mount on July 1, 1959, to Andrew and Alice Adkins. She was last employed by AT&T in Oakton, Va. Wanda was preceded in death by her father, Andrew W. Adkins; mother, Alice Emma Adkins; and her niece, Allyson Adkins. Wanda accepted Christ at an early age, was baptized by the Morningside Missionary Baptist Church at her young age. Wanda attended school in and successfully graduated from the Franklin County Public School division and went on to obtain a Bachelor of Science Degree in Management information System from Virginia Commonwealth University College in Richmond, Va. She continued her college by entering into a Master of Business Administration Degree program at the University of Missouri, Kansas City, Mo. She concluded her college roadmap by obtaining a Master's Certificate in Project Management at the University of Texas, Austin, Texas. Wanda leaves to cherish her memory five sibling, Retired United States Army Colonel Ronald (JoAnne) Adkins of Fairfax Station, Va., Retired United States Air Force Major Carrington (Nancy) Adkins of Fredericksburg, Va., Mr. William Adkins of Rocky Mount, Va., Mr. John (Felsia) Adkins of Rocky Mount, Va.; two great aunts, Mrs. Shirley Jackson of Salem, Va. and Mrs. Ruth McDaniel of Ferrum, Va.; one very close friend of the family, Mrs. Gretel Anderson of Clifton Forge, Va.; and a host of very supportive and loving nieces and nephews, cousins as well as friends. The funeral celebration will be conducted at the Adkins Family Cemetery gravesite on Tuesday, April 27, 2021, at 11 a.m. and will be streamed live on Stanfield Mortuary Facebook page. The family will receive friends at Stanfield Mortuary Service, Rocky Mount, Va., as a drive-through viewing starting at 12 noon on Monday, April 26, 2021. The family is requesting in lieu of flowers that memorial donations be made to The Morningside Missionary Baptist Church, 11799 Virgil Goode Highway, Rocky Mount, Virginia 24151 in Wanda's Name.
