In memory of
Eloise W. S. Janos
On April 6th, 2021, Eloise Wilson Searing Janos, beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away at the age of 95. Eloise was born in New York City on April 3rd, 1926 as the only child of Madeline and Edmund Wilson Searing. She grew up in Forest Hills, NY and graduated from Kathryn Gibbs College. Shortly thereafter she met the love of her life, Edward Howard Janos and they married in 1948 when Ed was a student at Colgate. Eloise and Ed had two daughters, Barbara (Couch) and Nancy (Moore). Eloise held numerous executive assistant positions throughout her career, starting at Vogue Magazine, then working for the athletic director at Colgate, the superintendent of schools where her daughters were students, the minister of her church and later Wellesley College. The highlight of her career was launching a successful mail order business, Support Plus, with her husband. They thrived in the direct mail industry and made many close friends. They worked harmoniously together for nearly 30 years, complimenting one anothers strengths. Eloise enjoyed life to the fullest. She loved traveling, gardening, and spending time with her friends and family. She enjoyed entertaining and was the gracious host of many memorable dinner parties. Eloise loved to laugh, a laugh that was infectious to everyone around her. She loved deeply and formed incredibly strong bonds with many people as a result. Eloise was preceded in death by her husband and soulmate, Edward. She is deeply missed by her daughters Barbara and Nancy and her grandchildren Brooke, Chloe, Alexa, Jennifer, and Kyle and eight great grandchildren. In lieu of a funeral service or flowers, the family prefers that you consider a donation to the Edward and Eloise Janos Scholarship Fund at Colgate University, The Alzheimers Association, or a charity of your choice.

About Memorial Trees

Honor a loved one by planting trees in their memory. Trees are planted in a forest with the greatest need, at the best suitable time (typically spring or fall), by a team of certified arborists.

Your Sympathy Gift Includes:

  • A digital certificate, customized with your message, that can be printed for your records or given to the family.
  • An entry in your loved one’s guest book, noting your contribution.
  • A listing in a memorial tree registry, showing that trees were planted in honor of your loved one.

Why Plant Trees?

This memorial tree planting will assist in reforestation, improve forest health and area watersheds, and provide a critical habitat for threatened and endangered wildlife.

By planting memorial trees, you not only honor the life and legacy of your loved one — you also help to preserve our beautiful national forests for generations to come.
