Mr. David Eugene "Gene" Morris, Sr., age 86, passed away Tuesday, April 13, 2021, at his home. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 15, 2021 at Unity Cemetery, with the Rev. Tony Caruso officiating. Following the service, the family will receive friends at the gravesite. Born in Marvin, N.C., Gene was a son of the late David Lee Morris and Lessie Braswell Morris. He proudly served in the U.S. Army. Gene was a retired machinist who had worked for Armstrong Flooring in Pineville and Highland Park in Charlotte. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, restoring furniture and upholstering. His greatest enjoyment was restoring his 1955 Chevy car and his 1955 Chevy truck. Surviving are his son, David Eugene Morris II (Sandra) of Clover; his special friend, Rosa Deluca; four brothers, Lathan Morris (Margaret) and Dennis Morris, all of Indian Land, Kenneth Morris (Teressa) of Matthews, N.C. and Gerald Morris of Westminster; three sisters, Inez Wilson of Westminster, Peggy Starnes of Monroe, N.C., and Edith Reznick of Brenham, Texas; three grandchildren, Ashley Morris of Clover, Adrienne Burgess (Thomas) of Columbus, OH, and Hayley Morris Robinson (Justin) of Charlotte; and his great-grandson, Rowe Burgess. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Alexander Morris (2010); and two sisters, Marjorie Pyle and Pamela Christenbury.
