In memory of
Hazel Turner Stewart was born on January 24, 1941 in St. Francisville, Louisiana to the late Arthur Dave Turner and Lilly Greenup Turner. She was a lifelong native of Metairie, Louisiana and a devoted member of Thomas United Methodist Church in Kenner, Louisiana. Hazel entered her heavenly home on Saturday, April 3, 2021 at the age of 80, surrounded by her family. Hazel graduated in 1960 from John Martyn High School. She furthered her education at Southern University and A&M College in Baton Rouge where she received a bachelor's and master's degree in education. She continued her studies and earned 30 plus graduate hours. Hazel is survived by her three children: Tammy Turner Alexander of Kenner, Louisiana, Harold Stewart (Tiffany) of Tomball, Texas, and Candice Stewart of Los Angeles, California. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Derecka, Dereck, Jr., Hallie, Lindsey, Angelo, Brady and Kingston. She was also the devoted aunt of Navada Brown of Lafayette, Louisiana, and a host of other nieces, nephews, family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald Stewart and her siblings, Aline Jones, Annette Stone, Helen Brown and Charles Turner. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at 10:00 am at Little Zion Baptist Church, 2200 Kenner Avenue, Kenner, Louisiana. Visitation 8:00 am - 10:00 am followed by the services. Interment at Belle Grove Cemetery, Kenner, Louisiana. Richardson Funeral Home of Jefferson, River Ridge, LA in charge of arrangements. Due to covid guidelines, the funeral services will be limited to invited family and guests. The viewing is open to the public. All attendees must wear a face mask.
