In memory of
Betty Ann McDonald
Betty MacDonald Betty Ann MacDonald, age 74, passed away on the evening of Feb. 17, 2021, in Spokane, Washington. A lifelong resident of Kettle Falls, Washington, Betty was born on April 23, 1946 in Colville, Washington, to Herman and Evelyn (Parker) Sublie. After graduating from Kettle Falls High School in 1964, Betty welcomed two sons, Rick and Jeff Snyder. In 1967, during a chance encounter, Betty met the love of her life, Larry MacDonald, and they wed in 1971. Betty and Larry welcomed a son and a daughter, Jay and Tabitha "Tabby." After attending beauty school for a short time, Betty would begin babysitting at home, while also taking care of her children, and cleaning houses. Betty loved her children immensely, and loved children in general, as she welcomed numerous children to live with her and her family for however long they wanted to stay. All of the children have countless memories of going water skiing and boating, and Betty being so fun to be around. Her wonderful and distinctive laugh was always contagious, and her loving nature made everyone want to be in her presence as often as possible. Betty and her sister would take trips to the casino together whenever she needed to get out of the house for a little bit. If she wasn't at the casino, Betty could usually be found thrift shopping, finding great deals and bargains. Once her children grew up and left the house, Betty continued to clean houses and businesses, and watch children, which she would continue to do all the way until the summer of 2020. In 1990, Betty got the new title of grandma and she was over the moon. She loved to spend as much time doting on her grandchildren as she possibly could, and relished every moment she was with them. As she slowed down with her cleaning and babysitting jobs, Betty devoted even more of her time to her family, spending quality time with her grandchildren, driving with her sister to the casino whenever they had the chance, and spending time at home with her loving husband, Larry. Her tight-knit family created countless memories together, and she cherished those moments immensely. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Evelyn (Parker) Sublie; her sons, Rick and Jeff Snyder; and her sister, Darlene Hilstad. She is survived by her loving husband, Larry MacDonald Sr.; her daughter, Tabitha "Tabby" (Allen) Chandler; her son, Jay MacDonald; grandchildren, Dustin Snyder, Rowdy and Kennedy Rieckers, and Jeffrey Chandler; great-grandchildren, Cooper and Maci Rieckers; her sister, Vernal Haynes, brothers, Ken, Gary (Jean), and Orval (Jo) Sublie; and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss her gentle and loving spirit greatly. Betty's funeral services were held Feb. 24, 2021, with a graveside service at Meyers Falls Cemetery. Please sign the online memorial guestbook at www.danekasfuneralchapel.com. Danekas Funeral Chapel and Crematory is entrusted in care.
