In memory of
Eugene L. "Gene" Camicia Jr.
Eugene 'Gene' L. Camicia, Jr. March 19, 1941 - February 21, 2021 Resident of San Leandro, CA Eugene (Gene) L. Camicia, Jr., unexpectedly passed away on Sunday, February 21st, 2021. Gene was born on March 19th, 1941 in Oakland, California. His early years were spent in Alameda, California where he graduated from Alameda High School. Most of his working life was as a warehouse worker for Lucky Stores Inc., Grand Auto and CSX Corporation/Sea Land. However, his favorite job (prior to his retirement) was working in the Auto Stack for Sea Land at the Port of Oakland. He was responsible for loading cars into the shipping containers so they could be shipped to Hawaii. Most know his passions were art, luxury cars and auto racing (Nascar, Formula 1, Indy cars, etc.) so this final job fit his personality perfectly. His dream job would have been on a racetrack, whether behind the wheel or in the pits. As most of you know, his retirement gift to himself was a Corvette. We believe he is driving his dream car, a Ferrari, on a heavenly racetrack. Outracing his competitors to the finish line and victory lane. He was a beloved husband to his wife, Mille Camicia, for 57 years and a devoted father to his only daughter, Joele Camicia. His heart and care for others was bigger than his body. His wit and silly smirk will be remembered lovingly by all who knew him. If he teased you a bit, it meant he cared. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his name to the charity of your choice as he was a very giving person. A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date for family and close friends. View the online memorial for Eugene 'Gene' L. Camicia, Jr.
