In memory of
Dorothy Hoskins
Dorothy Ann Hoskins (AKA Queen Dot) was born in Lumberton, Mississippi, on May 5th, 1929. After a life very well lived, filled with dear friends and family, dancing, golfing, bridge, and world travels, she passed in her sleep of natural causes February 12th, 2021. Dorothy called Diamondhead, Mississippi her home for the past 45 years with regular trips to her beloved home away from home, Orange Beach, Alabama. Being an outspoken, tenacious, independent lady, she was involved in numerous organizations and community improvement. Over the years, she raised thousands of dollars for the Diamondhead fire department and was queen for two Mardi Gras organizations. Those who shared time with her were enamored by her competitive, fun-loving, free spirit and often stated how they wanted to be like her when they "grew up." Dot was very devout in her faith and believed it was so very important to give thanks and praise to God for all the gifts that are bestowed upon us. She was preceded by her husband James Hoskins, parents John and Floye Bryant, and sister Jonny Ruth Becker. Dorothy is survived by her son Jay Kretzer and his wife Janie, Niece Dorothy Vince. She is also survived by her 3 grand children Trey,(Hannah) Alec, (Ashley) and Annie (Blake) as well as 5 great grand children Allison, Avery, Marlin, Bryant, and Fischer. It was Dorothy's wish that her remains be donated to advance medical studies and research. In lieu of a traditional service, she requested a celebration of her life event which will be forthcoming in May, her birth month. It was also her wish that, rather than flowers, donations be made to a charity of your choice. To all her many friends, she is dancing in heaven now and expects you to keep the dance floor full here!
