Shirley M. Brown, 95, of Wauseon was given her angel wings on Monday, Feb. 8, 2021, at CHP Hospice in Defiance with her son, Richard, by her side. Shirley was born in Youngstown, Ohio, on May 6, 1925, to the late Albert and Fannie (Wick) Cole. She married Donald Brown on Sept. 26, 1045, and he preceded her in death. Shirley was the second of nine children. When she was young, the family moved to the Metamora area. In her teens, she worked jobs in Adrian, Mich., and at the Pet Milk Company in Delta, where she met her husband. After that, Shirley had jobs at Wauseon Manufacturing and Lawson's, and worked 13 years as a housekeeper at the Fulton County Health Center until her retirement. Surviving is her daughter, Beverly (George) Walworth; son, Richard Brown; sister, Janice Ridgley of Lees Summit, Mo.; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and close friends. Shirley was also preceded in death by her daughter, Linda; son, Harold; five brothers; and two sisters. Funeral services will be private due to ongoing health concerns. Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home in Wauseon has been entrusted with arrangements. Memorials for Shirley may be given to Emmaus Lutheran Church in Wauseon or CHP Hospice in Defiance. The family would like to express gratitude to Parkview Physicians in Wauseon, CHP Defiance, Pastor Steve Geske, and the members of Emmaus for the care and support shown to Shirley. About Memorial Trees

Honor a loved one by planting trees in their memory. Trees are planted in a forest with the greatest need, at the best suitable time (typically spring or fall), by a team of certified arborists.

Your Sympathy Gift Includes:

  • A digital certificate, customized with your message, that can be printed for your records or given to the family.
  • An entry in your loved one’s guest book, noting your contribution.
  • A listing in a memorial tree registry, showing that trees were planted in honor of your loved one.

Why Plant Trees?

This memorial tree planting will assist in reforestation, improve forest health and area watersheds, and provide a critical habitat for threatened and endangered wildlife.

By planting memorial trees, you not only honor the life and legacy of your loved one — you also help to preserve our beautiful national forests for generations to come.
