Darlene J. Jackson 1934 - 2021 Darlene Joan (Morhain) Jackson, daughter of Mervin and Alice Marie (Brown) Morhain, was born on August 21, 1934 in Shenandoah, Iowa. She entered into eternal rest on Thursday evening, January 7, 2021 at Mosaic Life Care Medical Center in St. Joseph, Missouri, at the age of 86 years, 4 months, 17 days. Most of Darlene's life was spent in the Shenandoah, Iowa area. She attended the Shenandoah Community Schools graduating from Shenandoah High School with the Class of 1953. On June 6, 1954, Darlene was united in marriage to Darrel Eugene Jackson in Shenandoah. They lived their married life on the family farm west of Shenandoah where they raised their five children, Dennis, Deborah, David, Denise and Donna. In her earlier years, Darlene worked at Spurgeon's Department Store. She later worked for a short time at Alco. Most of her time, however, was spent on the farm helping Darrel and taking care of her family. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, embroidering, tole painting, making quilts that she gave to her children and grandchildren and painting adult paint-by-number pictures. Darlene and Darrel enjoyed boating and riding snowmobiles in Minnesota with family and friends through the years. Preceding her in death were her parents, Mervin and Alice Morhain; parents-in-law, Wayne and Velva Jackson; sister-in-law, Carolyn Jackson; nephew, Carl Scott; many aunts, uncles and cousins. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Darrel Jackson of Big Lake, MO; five children, Dennis and Michele (Shelly) Jackson of Council Bluffs, IA, Deborah Kingsolver, David Jackson and wife Tamra, and Denise Jackson, all of Shenandoah, IA, and Donna Tiemeyer and husband Trent of Farragut, IA; 12 grandchildren, Jennifer (Steve) Nokes of Shenandoah, IA, Justin (Magaly) Jackson of Nebraska City, NE, Brian Kingsolver of Sidney, IA, Randy Kingsolver of Shenandoah, IA, Lisa (Chris) Irvin of Pacific Junction, IA, Shawna Jackson (Suresh Mayampully) of Dallas, TX, Sandra (Brian) Palmer of Gretna, NE, Kim (Tucker) Tibken of Wiota, IA, Casey Hutchison of Glenwood, IA, Heather Hutchison (Jeremy Herron) of Shenandoah, IA, Jessica Blevins (Rob Silence) of Farragut, IA, and Ashley (Jeremy) Klepinger of Emerson, IA; 12 great grandchildren with another on the way, Owen and Dakota Nokes of Shenandoah, Baby Jackson due in May, Rylee Irvin of Pacific Junction, IA, Hannah Mayampully of Dallas, TX, Maddax and Brayden Palmer of Gretna, NE, Landon, Logan and Layton Tibken of Wiota, IA, Corbin Hutchison of Glenwood, IA, Olivia Klepinger of Emerson, IA and Morgan Silence of Farragut, IA; sister, Phyllis Scott and husband Richard of Farragut, IA; brother-in-law, Gary Jackson and wife Denise of Westboro, MO; sister-in-law, Sherry Gibson and husband Ron of Shenandoah, IA; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. A celebration of life funeral service was held on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at Nishna Valley Funeral and Cremation Service in Shenandoah with Pastor Carl Phillips officiating. The service was live streamed on Facebook on the Nishna Valley Funeral and Cremation Services Facebook page. Musical selections were "Amazing Grace" and "In The Garden". Casket bearers were Dennis Jackson, Debbie Kingsolver, Dave Jackson, Denise Jackson, Donna Tiemeyer, Jennifer Nokes and Randy Kingsolver. Burial was in the Elmwood Cemetery in Coin, Iowa. Memorials in Darlene's name are being directed to the Shenandoah Ambulance Service. Professional services were under the direction of Nishna Valley Funeral and Cremation Service in Shenandoah.
