In memory of
Richard L. Miley
On Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2020, Richard. L. Miley passed away at the age of 79. Richard, known as Dick, was a loving and devoted husband to Patricia A. Miley, and proud father to his four daughters, Colleen, Cortenay, Tracy and Alison. A lifelong Ohio resident, he was born in Worthington and attended The Ohio State University. Dick had a career in sales and marketing, but his true passion was for the outdoors. He loved hunting with his beloved pup Lucy, fishing, boating, motorsports and fixing or making just about anything. When his daughters were young, he shared his love of horses with them and together the family managed a farm in Ostrander, caring for and showing horses. Dick married his wife Patricia on Dec. 26, 1970. With great pride, he would often say of his wife to his children, "I've never known of a smarter person than your mother." They shared a love of travel, from adventurous sailing trips in the Bahamas to journeys throughout Europe, and held impassioned political discussions even though they were on the same side. They truly completed each other. Dick was known for his wonderful sense of humor, contagious and boisterous laugh, and twinkle in his eye that spoke a thousand words. He raised his children and grandchildren with the principles of work hard, there is no success without failure, and never give up. Dick was preceded in death by his daughter Tracy, who passed away on June 19, 2007. He is survived by his wife Pat, and children Colleen Stilwell, Cortenay and her husband Sean McDonough, and Alison Miley, and grandchildren Adam, Casey, John, Alyssa, Max and Brandon. Due to COVID, a service is not planned at this time but a celebration of life gathering will be organized for a future date. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital Research.
