Marie Donofrio Beloved sister and aunt; resident of West Orange It is with great sadness that the family of Marie Donofrio announces her passing on January 12, 2021, at the age of 93. She died peacefully at home with family by her side. Marie graduated from West Orange High School in 1945 and remained a lifelong resident of West Orange. She went on to work as a secretary at Allstate Insurance for over forty years before retiring in 1992. Marie was predeceased by her parents, Louis and Susan (nee Perruso), her sisters Josephine Prongay and Rose Mullarkey, brother-in-law Albert Prongay, her niece Patricia Prongay Chamberlain and her nephew Michael Prongay. Marie is survived by her brother Louis and sister-in-law Jean, brother-in-law Donald Mullarkey and many adoring nieces and nephews who lovingly called her "Auntie Ree". Marie enjoyed watching classic movies as well as romantic comedies and never saw a miniseries that she didn't like. She was an avid baker. Her chocolate chip cookies, lemon meringue pies and pizzagaina were legendary among family and friends. Because she was quick with a needle and thread, she was the go-to person for family sewing needs. She will forever be remembered for bringing her portable haircutting kit to family gatherings in case "someone needed a trim". The family is forever grateful to her caregivers for all the love and amazing care they gave to her in recent years. Services will be private and in the care of Shook-Farmer Funeral Home, shookfarmer.com . Marie will be entombed at Gate of Heaven in East Hanover.
