Edward R. Orlando
Edward R. Orlando Beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and community volunteer Edward R. Orlando, 92, of Westfield, N.J., passed away Oct. 11, 2020. A funeral Mass was held at St. Helen's Church, Westfield, N.J. Born in Linden, N.J., he was the youngest child of Giovanna Truncale and Gerlando Orlando. His seven sisters and brothers predeceased him. Mr. Orlando was a graduate of Pace University and served eight years in the N.J. Army National Guard. He was employed as a sales manager at Getty Oil Co., now Chevron Corporation, for many years before retiring in 1992. Mr. Orlando was a member of the Westfield Historical Society, The Genealogical Society of the West Fields, and the Friends of the Westfield Memorial Library. He was awarded the Friends' Gaston Award in 2003 for service to the library. In 2009, he and his wife were recognized by the Westfield Historical Society as volunteers of the year and received a State of New Jersey Resolution commending their activities. Mr. Orlando was a member and president of the Chevron Retirees Northeast Chapter and a volunteer with Mobile Meals in Westfield. He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Mary (O'Toole); sons, Robert W. and Edward M. and wife, Monica; granddaughters, Jessica and Carla, and 18 nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Helping Hands and Hearts of St. Helen's Church, the Westfield Historical Society, both of Westfield, N.J., or any animal rescue fund.
