Benito "Benny" DeRosa
Benito 'Benny' DeRosa, 79 Co-founder of Pastosa Ravioli always put his family first Benito 'Benny' DeRosa, 79, of Eltingville, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2019. Born Aug. 10, 1940, in Naples, Italy, he was the son of the late Umberto and Lucia DeRosa. He was the beloved husband of Lucia DeRosa (nee Bamonte). Lucia and Benito were married in 1969. They settled in Eltingville in 1979, where they raised their family and started their family business, Pastosa Ravioli of Eltingville. They would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this December. Benito, better known as Benny to most, was a hardworking and dedicated man. He was a diligent provider. He always put the needs of his family before his own. His business was his pride and joy over the years. Caring and tending to the store was the best way he knew how to care for his wife and children. His dedication and work ethic was unsurpassed. He made sure he passed these and many other traits along to his children, whom he was so very proud of. Benny knew that with these traits, his children would continue to care and provide for their growing families the way he did. In his spare time, Benny could be found cooking, gardening and taking trips to the shooting range. He is survived by his wife, Lucia; his sons, Danny and Umberto DeRosa; daughter, Luciana DeRosa; daughter-in-laws, ToniAnn and Cathy; his siblings, Maria, Giovanna and Anna, and his six grandchildren, Ben, Julia, Isabella, Luciana, Domenico and Gianluca. He was predeceased by his siblings, Taddea, Antonio, Armando, Giuseppe, Vincenzo and Angelo. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Child Church, 4747 Amboy Rd., Staten Island, N.Y. 10312. Entombment to follow in Resurrection Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc., Staten Island, N.Y. Online condolences may be made to the family at scaliahome.com In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital are appreciated.
