Mary L. Potter
Mary L. Potter Oct. 31, 1932 - Sept. 1, 2019 Mary Potter, 86, of Tigard, passed away Sept. 1, 2019 from Metastatic Breast Cancer. She was born Oct. 31, 1932 to Mary Rose and Raymond Kuss. Mary was born and raised in Corning, N.Y. After high school she married Donald H. Potter, Sept. 12, 1953. They both worked at Corning Glass Works until the fall of 1955, when they moved to Syracuse for Don to pursue degrees in Forestry and Landscape Architecture. Mary's excellent typing skills helped put Don thru school. Two children and many moves across the country later, Mary and Don settled and remained in Lake Oswego. Mary worked for the counseling office at L.O. High School and then with Student Services at Lewis & Clark College where she developed many meaningful connections with students over the years. Mary retired in 1994 and played a significant role in caring for and raising her granddaughter, Kelsi Zane. Mary had a wicked sense of humor, enjoyed playing cribbage with her son-in-law and remained just as independent as could be given life circumstances. Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Don. She is survived by her children, Steven (Kim and 3 step-children) and Lynne (Jerry Gammon); her granddaughter, Kelsi Zane Gammon; niece, Sharon Kuss and her Hawaiian Ohana. Donations in Mary's memory may be made to Casey Eye Institute for Macular Degeneration.Private interment to be held at Willamette National Cemetery.
