Guelda was born in La Ceiba, Honduras to the late James and Hulda Muñoz where her father was an accountant for Standard Fruit Company and an agent for Lloyd's of London. She came to America at the young age of 13. After graduating from Campbell High School in Smyrna, GA., Guelda moved to New Orleans and started her career at Whitney National Bank. She later became the executive assistant to the President of D.H. Holmes Department Stores while attending night school at Loyola University majoring in pre-law.
