In memory of
Carol Rogoway
Carol Rogoway Jan. 15, 1929 - Oct. 3, 2019 A true beauty inside and out, Carol Rogoway died Oct. 3, 2019, after a long, difficult battle with Alzheimer's. Carol was born Ursel Amrahamowsky, Jan. 15, 1929, in Germany. When she was 17-years-old her family barely escaped the Holocaust and settled in a Shanghai ghetto, where they lived for much of her youth. In 1947, they left Shanghai and traveled on a two-week sea voyage to America. After missing out on a traditional childhood, Carol made the most of her life in America with her husband Stan and her sons, Rick and David. She was the anchor of the family as Stan worked six days and many evenings a week. It wasn't always easy dealing with her mischievous boys—we can still see her with phone at ear pretending to call the juvenile authorities in an effort to calm us down—but she was ever encouraging and enthusiastic in whatever endeavor they wanted to pursue. Carol loved time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Carol was a fashionista before that term was even invented. She accepted with good humor when teased about her lengthy morning make-up sessions, but when she was done the only word to describe her was "stunning." Many sought her expert advice on high fashion and cosmetics. Always personable and friendly, Carol had a real knack for making everyone she met feel special. We will miss her glowing green eyes, her generous affection and ready laugh and her one culinary achievement—her cranberry mold that was a staple at all family gatherings. Carol is survived by Rick and Becky, David and Lori; grandchildren, Marisa, Sam and Tyler; great-grandchildren, Sidonie and Scarlett; and sister, Edith. Her dedicated caregiver Cairlene and loyal friends Bob, Mark, Jay and Christopher gave her great joy in her later years. Remembrances to Alzheimer's Association.
