Mary Katherine Dellett April 27, 1933 - Oct. 5, 2019 Mary Katherine (Bird) Dellett, 86, wife of John Philip Dellett and mother of five children, died peacefully in her sleep, and went home to be with our Lord, Saturday, Oct. 5, 2019 in Newberg, Ore. Mary Kate was born in Chicago, daughter of Harlan Wilson Bird and Katherine Henrietta (Rockcastle) Bird. She grew up in Strasburg, Va., and earned her degree in child education from Mary Washington College. She met John Dellett as a graduate student at George Washington University and they were married June 30, 1956. Mary Kate will be missed by her four surviving children, Stephen David Dellett (Carol) of Galena, Ill., Katherine Grace Hammack of Arlington, Va., Mary Gail Dellett of Sandy, Ore., and Mark Thomas Dellett (Diane) of La Pine, Ore.; six grandchildren; and one great-grandson. John and Mary Kate moved to Lake Oswego, in 1965. John became a partner with the Klarquist Sparkman patent law firm in Portland, then started his own firm where Mary Kate worked by his side. Remembrances may be sent to World Vision, 34834 Weyerhauser Way South, P.O. Box 9716, Federal Way, WA. 98063. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2019, at River View cemetery, 0300 S.W. Taylors Ferry Road, followed by a reception at Buffalo Gap, 6835 Macadam Avenue.
