Halon R. 'Rennie' Freeden Jr. Summit police officer and paramedic Halon R. "Rennie" Freeden Jr., 85, a lifelong resident of Summit, N.J., passed away suddenly on Friday, Oct. 4, 2019. Mr. Freeden was a retired City of Summit police officer and paramedic who started the pilot program for paramedics at Overlook Hospital and was instrumental in expanding the paramedic program throughout the State of New Jersey. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Thursday, Oct. 10, from 4 to 8 p.m.at Paul Ippolito Summit Memorial, 7 Summit Ave., Summit. The funeral will be held in the funeral home on Friday, Oct. 11, with a gathering beginning at 10:30 a.m. and the funeral service held at 11 a.m. Interment will be private.
