Angelo M. Morelli, 86 A life well lived .... Angelo M. Morelli, 86, of Grymes Hill, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2019, at Richmond University Medical Center, after a short illness. Born Friday, July 21, 1933, in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the son of the late Philip Morelli and the late Rose Cavaliere Morelli. Angelo enjoyed a long standing career in law enforcement. Angelo became a NYC police officer in 1957 and served faithfully the City of New York for 20 years before his retirement in 1977. Following his retirement from the NYPD, Angelo became inspector general for the fire department. He then worked in the Special Prosecutor's Office and finally after earning his Juris Doctorate degree he settled in the Brooklyn District Attorney's office as the bureau chief of investigations. Angelo retired at the ripe old age of 80. Angelo, outside of his illustrious law career, was a man of many talents. An adventurer, Angelo loved to travel, being out on a boat, the beach, and even sky diving. He was a marathon runner and to add to his many talents was also a published author, self publishing the book Cop Killer in 2012. More than anything Angelo cherished his time with his children and grandchildren. He was the devoted husband of Ida (Ruiz) Morelli for over 35 years; loving father of Linda Frank, Michael Morelli, Philip Morelli and Melissa Morelli-Walsh; dear father-in-law of Todd, Sue, Paula, and Rob; cherished grandfather of Vanessa and husband Mark, Taryn and husband Dan, Philip James, Michele and husband Jake, Anthony, Matthew, Liam, Rose, Christian, and Lily; doting great-grandfather of Daniel, Aubrey, Madison, and Emma. And a final quote from Angelo .... 'And that's the story!' The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2019, at the John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd., Staten Island, N.Y. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2019, at 11 a.m. at St. Sylvester's Church, 845 Targee St., Staten Island, N.Y. 10304.
