Maureen Anne Hennessy
Maureen Anne Hennessy Feb. 11, 1935 - Sept. 26, 2019 Maureen Anne Hennessy, 84, passed away at 8:10 p.m., Sept. 26, 2019 surrounded by loving family at the Yamhill Care Home in Portland. She was born in Oakland, Calif., to Pauline and William Boyle Feb. 11, 1935. Her early life was a chaotic one. She had three stepdads, lived on and off in orphanages and attended more than 30 different schools. Maureen was a beautiful soul and, despite her early challenges, lived a spirited life without limits. She was a commercial model in the 50s then created and owned a charm school in the 1960s. In the 1970s, she was a pharmaceutical representative where she was awarded "Man of the Month" many times due to her top sales. She started her own business: The Hypnosis Clinic of Medford, where she helped people for more than 20 years to stop smoking, improve athletic performance, manage pain and lose weight. Maureen was an avid runner and participated in many marathons and ultramarathons in her 50s and 60s. She became an editor and travel writer, exploring the world and writing a book called "How to Go Almost Anywhere for Almost Nothing." She later wrote a screenplay, became a forensic hypnotherapist and earned her Doctorate of Clinical Psychology at the age of 80. Maureen adored and supported her children who survive her: Kathleen (Mark), Ava (Robert), Michael, Laurie (George), Alyssa (Dan) and Maureen. She was so proud of her 15 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She had loving support from her former husband George, his wife, Risa, previous wife, Shirley, sister Deanne and countless other people she inspired and included in her family over the years. Maureen and her family are grateful for the kindness and love provided by Felicia, her caregiver, for the last three years of her life. There will be a celebration of Maureen's life in Portland in the spring of 2020. If you are interested, contact: alytower@live.com Please sign the online guest book at www.oregonlive.com/obits
